Walking in Fife

Fife has a well-deserved reputation as one of the best Scottish regions for walking.  With 117 miles of coastal trail, plus golden beaches and rolling hills, the area has a lot to offer walkers of all abilities.

Balmule is located in the heart of Fife, near Dunfermline, with access to many lovely walking areas.  Some of our guest's favourite walks include:

Culross Palace – Discover one of the jewels of Fife on an exploration of Culross and the surrounding countryside.

Charlestown & Limekilns – Take a walk around these two conservation villages and the Broomhall Estate, learn about the fascinating industrial heritage of the area, and take a stroll along the newly extended Fife Coastal Path.

Historic Dunfermline – Take a walk through the historic town of Dunfermline to see the ancient capital of Scotland and visit Pittencrieff Park, one of the best town centre parks in Scotland.

The Forth Bridges – The Forth Rail Bridge is one of the most iconic in the world! Take the opportunity to walk over the Forth Road Bridge to see the rail bridge and the new Queensferry Crossing.

Loch Leven Heritage Trail – Enjoy a 13-mile walk around beautiful Loch Leven taking in the town of Kinross, RSPB Vane Farm and Loch Leven’s Larder, or, if you’d prefer a more relaxed day, take a short walk to one of the fabulous coffee shops situated around the loch.
